Happy May Day!!! If you were wondering what happened in history today, which you probably weren’t until now, then here I am to tell you what happened, on May 1st.


May 1st:

1789 – George Washington was inaugurated as the first president of the United States.

1939 – First regular television service in America

1945 – German dictator Adolf Hitler and his wife committed suicide on this day, one day after they got married.

1952 – The diary of Anne Frank was published into a book.

2012 – At least 103 people were killed after a ferry capsized during a storm in India. The ferry broke into two pieces during this storm and some of the passengers were swept away by the current of the river.
